My First Attempt with Arashi

First I prepared the supplies: Scarf soaking, jars for dye , a make-do "pole"--or rather a beef jerky container!!

Next, I began pushing the velvet scarf onto the round container wrapping it with string.

Finally the entire scarf fits onto the container!

Dyeing with navy, gold, and purple procion dyes.

So just when I think it is a complete mess . . .

We microwaved and waited a while.

I washed it out and dried it a little . . .

And this is what we got.

I was rather pleased with my first attempt with the Arashi technique. This is also known as pole-wrapping, but I think Arashi sounds much more exotic. With the help of Hunter, some vinegar, and some good music, I enjoyed Arashi. Now maybe it is time to buy a real pole and try some more!
